My thoughts on this are pretty simple. I will never release the code I’ve written for SuperCollider under any license other than GPLv3. I don’t want to or need to make money from my work on it. I am perfectly fine with people paying each other for development work on SuperCollider itself, though, so long as the resulting product is shared under GPLv3.
Other people may have more nuanced views on this, but I am not so interested in discussing it. There is simply not enough time, and in my experience changing a stranger’s long-held political and economic viewpoints over the internet borders on the impossible. As I understand it, so long as people such as myself exist, the entire discussion is basically moot.
