Auto-connect clients to a server

I’m trying to figure out how to set up a network system where clients are automatically registered to a server. The idea is to write a class that can send independent OSC messages to an arbitrary number of clients (on the same local network). An instance of should automatically register with the (already running) server e.g. by sending it its NetAddr(). I’ve search a bit, and checked the source for the Utopia quark, but i realize my knowledge in networking is limited.

Maybe someone could kick me in the right direction?
