I don't see my MIDI Controller in SC

i don’t see my MIDI controller when i initialize MIDIClient.init; How do i fix this? Appreciate any help.

What’s the OS? (The underlying MIDI subsystem is different in all 3 OSes so “how to fix it” may not be the same across OSes.) And OS version, just in case.

What’s the device?

How does it appear in other software?

Any other MIDI software running at the same time? (Shouldn’t matter in Mac or Linux; Windows, it could.)

OS: Macbook Pro, macOS Monterey

Device: Korg nanoKONTROL2

Logic Pro X recognizes the nanoKONTROL2.

The free software Protokol, by Hexler, is indispensable when debugging midi issues. It is cross platform, so it probably works with your system. Good for seeing if devices connect and what data they are sending.

Downloaded Protokol. Not exactly sure how to use it, but I don’t see my nanoKONTROL2 in the app.

If you don’t see a bunch of numbers on the MIDI screen (with the enabled button checked) when you are moving your faders, the issue is with the Nanokontrol.

Also, if you don’t get this message when you plug in the device:

CONNECT | ENDPOINT(nanoKONTROL2 SLIDER/KNOB)

Then the issue is the device. I have no idea why it would work with logic. Could be in a weird setting, but you should still see the midi data when you move the sliders.
