JACK and Portaudio Question

I have a quick question:

Is there any difference in performance between an application with a native JACK backend, and one that uses portaudio, but will be used with JACK on Linux?

Portaudio has the advantage that will work on other OS. But I also feel it would be cleaner to go with a JACK app.

Experiences? Some pieces of information to share?

SuperCollider also has PortAudio backend. In what situations is it used?

Yes, it will add a little latency. The callback mechanism may not synchronize with JACK .

But I haven’t found any measurements.
