Stereo & Binaural Album Release: Matters (Cero Records)

Dear All,

Cero Records has released Matters 1-10 in stereo and binaural (*).

Thanks to James McCartney for giving us this wonderful piece of software and the whole SC community for the inspiring discussions over many years!

Text on Cero Records website:

Matters 8 is also online in the IEM edition of Sounding Future’s 3D AudioSpace. Note the player button at the bottom right for switching between binaural (default) and stereo.

Best Regards

Daniel

(*) Special thanks to Daniel Rudrich and everyone who worked on the IEM Plug-in Suite – this tool makes working with Ambisonics so much easier! I converted the standard format of the Matters series – 8 discrete channels – into binaural with 7th-order encoding.

Due to the various spatial strategies I employed in the individual pieces, the difference between the versions via headphones is most strongly notable in #4 - #10.

I listened to it this morning on Apple Music (the 3D headphones version) and it’s the best electronic album I’ve listened to since Byron Westbrook’s Tranlucents LP (which is also very cool on headphones). Congrats !

Will this be available anywhere besides a streaming platform? I don’t have a subscription to any of those and dealing with commercials on youtube is a drag.

You can check the other distribution partners of CD Baby. There are many, some are only available in certain geographical regions, though.

Thanks for the feedback and the link, glad that you like it :slightly_smiling_face:

Seems like CD Baby distribution focuses largely on streaming and/or social media. I see Amazon has it on their streaming service but also for sale as mp3s. But then it’s only available as mp3s.

Is there a possibility of making this available on something like bandcamp or boomkat?

Will listen on youtube in the meantime.

Thanks for sharing your work Daniel.

Cero Records goes via CD Baby, so the Matters album as a whole is available on their channels only. Matters 8 in stereo, btw, is also contained in the album Sonic Alchemy on bandcamp:
